Elon Musk’s SpaceX has wowed the world many times, and now the company is doing it again! This time around, the private space company has posted a very interesting job description: a Spaceport Mixologist.
Looking For A Spaceport Mixologist
While most of us are unlikely to head to space anytime soon, when we do go, it’s good to know that an experienced bartender will be there to pour us a drink before we head out! The Spaceport Mixologist will likely work out of SpaceX’s Boca Chica, Texas, where hundreds are working to create a massive spaceport. Elon Musk says the “Starbase Tiki Bar” will have everything future space travelers could want before they head into space.
There will also be a restaurant on-site as well as the “High Bar,” in the “high bay” of the watching tower. While the Starbase Bar will have a tiki theme, the High Bar will be a “futuristic bar” with “360 degree windows & a glass floor looking down on the rocket factory.”
Of course, “experience pairing drinks with a themed menu” is on the list of preferred skills for the Spaceport Mixologist. “SpaceX has a number of food service outlets and formats serving our workforce and are looking to add many more. We are searching for candidates who have superior mixology experience with a focus in resorts, bars, and full service restaurants,” the job posting reads.
But this is just one of the many jobs SpaceX is creating…
Musk Dabbles In Restaurant Business
Currently, SpaceX’s restaurants and bars are only for its employees, but the public will be able to visit soon enough. “I super support public spaces around our production & launch sites, wherever it can be done safely and securely,” Musk tweeted back in January. “When covid passes, we will open up our restaurant to the public & figure out ways to allow limited access to the High Bar.”
Meanwhile, it is not unusual at all for technology and aerospace companies to hire baristas and chefs to serve their employees. From Facebook and Google to SpaceX and Boeing, they all have hired several chefs and baristas. So if you love space and love serving people, you might want to sign up to become the world’s first Spaceport Mixologist!
