Many love entering their retirement years! After all, why shouldn’t they – they earned it! However, some find the free time too boring. Others realize they didn’t save enough and need some extra cash. If that’s the case, no worries! There’s plenty of great jobs for post-retirement seniors.
Retail Worker
Of course, grocery stores and the like are always in need of retail workers. Many pay around $12 an hour and can work with nearly any schedule. Meanwhile, many give staff bonuses and discounts. What else can you ask for? Plus, it’s easier than ever to earn one of these jobs with COVID and the holidays approaching.
Freelancer
Speaking of flexibility: freelancing offers more free time than any other job! No matter your location or experience, there’s likely a freelancing job out there for you. From proofreading and copyediting to sales and graphic design, you can do so much from the comfort of your own home. Meanwhile, freelancers can earn anywhere from $10-30 an hour, depending on the job.
Driver
More often than not, driving someone around seems like a chore: picking someone up from the airport, helping a family member pick up groceries, so on and so on. However, if you’re getting paid, driving becomes so much more than a job or hobby – its a way to earn easy cash! Of course, now there are more companies than ever offering driving jobs, like Uber, Lyft, and Amazon for deliveries. For around $14.45 per hour, there’s also a chance to drive other vehicles like buses and vans!
Caretaker
In all honest: caretakers do no make as much as they should. However, its truly fulfilling work. If the retiree loves communicating with people and helping them out on a daily basis, they can become a caretaker and earn around $10 an hour. And, if you’re lucky enough, you might just find a job overseas that will enable you to explore a new location! This is a big step after retirement but can spice up everyday life.
Pet Sitter
If caring for people is not what the retiree is looking for, they can try their luck with animals. After all, anyone would love to spend their time with furry friends and get paid for it. They’ll have to think whether they want to start alone or sign up for a company – either way, is great to get around $12.44 per hour for this position. Rover and Wag are both great services where people sign up to be a pet sitter or even a dog walker, and it’s a rather flexible job as well. If the local shelter pays for their employees – look for a job there, but don’t expect to earn a lot from the start.
Not all of us can stay at home all-time doing nothing – and getting a part-time retirement job is a great solution to that. This list is just a few options.
