Without a doubt, most fast-food restaurants are nothing special. However, the most beautiful McDonald’s, found in New Hyde Park, New York, certainly entices one to visit! Completely different than your typical drive-thru spot, a former mansion houses this McDonald’s! And the history of the restaurant is an even more interesting story…
History Of The Most Beautiful McDonalds
After a visit to this McDonald’s in New Hyde Park, New York, you’ll agree with many other customers: it’s one of the most gorgeous places to eat French Fries in the world! Looking at the photos, it should come as no surprise that Insider recently called it the “most beautiful” fast-food restaurant in the United States.
Believe it or not, a 19th-century mansion houses this McDonald’s. And the fast-food giant kept the hardwood floors, double staircase, and the original patio. Architects designed the home for Joseph Denton, a famous family in Long Island history, back in 1795. Of course, back in the day, no one knew it would become a fast-food spot in less than 300 years. After leaving the Denton family, the house was first used as a funeral parlor, then various high-end restaurants.
Over the years, the mansion started to deteriorate, and locals hoped someone would rescue the beautiful building. That’s when Mcdonald’s acquired the property…
Rescuing The Mansion
Then, in 1985, the owners sold the mansion to the McDonald’s corporation. At first, as you can imagine, locals felt apprehensive about the fast-food giant picking up the home. After all, they did not want it to become a plain fast-food spot like any other. In fact, in the beginning, their fears were realized: McDonald’s planned on tearing the mansion down.
Thankfully, after a very successful campaign, Long Island locals managed to prove their point to the company. In 1988, McDonald’s agreed to invest a couple of million dollars for a complete restoration with one tiny request: they could use the restored building as a fast-food spot. The locals finally agreed, and it took the company several years to rebuild the house. Now, it’s finally open!
Open to the Public
Now, anyone can visit the mansion, which just looks like it did back in the 1920s. Its a literally McMansion!
Meanwhile, McDonald’s fans believe there’s no better place to eat the companies delicious fast food. “I know it probably was all in my mind, but I swear the McNuggets at the Denton House McDonald’s were the greatest I’ve ever tasted,” said Allison Robicelli of The Takeout, who visited the location in person for a recent review. “I’ve never been back, and I’ve never stopped praying that one day every McDonald’s will present its dollar menu with the air of refinement that I experienced that day in New Hyde Park.”
