One interaction can change an entire person’s life. Just ask this McDonald’s employee! He didn’t think of anything of covering a mom’s food when she forgot her purse. Afterward, the woman in question decided to give back to the McDonald’s employee in the most fantastic way…
Act Of Kindness from McDonald’s
Like many mothers on the go, mom Brittany Reed headed into McDonald’s last month in a hurry. At the moment, the mother was driving a car full of hungry children home from football practice. Meanwhile, her children, ages 4 and 7, were crying “for one reason or the other.” A stressful situation, to say the least. So, imagine how heartbroken the woman felt when she arrived at the pay counter only to realize that she had left her wallet at home. Thankfully, Reed had a savior: a nice teenager working at McDonald’s covered the meal!
“I look at the young man with tears in my eyes just from being stressed and annoyed and say ‘hun I am so sorry but I have to cancel that order I left my purse at home when we went to football tonight’ WITHOUT HESITATION he takes out his wallet and swipes his card before I could even say ‘no I will be right back!'” Reed wrote in a subsequent social media post. Even when the mother returned late, the staff member, Wyatt Jones, didn’t want to accept any money at first. So Reed knew she needed to do something amazing for this remarkable teen…
A Mother Giving Back
In a Facebook post she published the next day, Reed praised Jones for looking out for a mom at her wit’s end. “He made this stressed out momma pause for a moment and realize this is exactly what we parents are trying to do, raise great humans,” she wrote. “Wyatt, do not let this world change your kind heart young man for its people like YOU that will change this world for the better!”
Of course, when Reed heard that Jone had started working at McDonald’s to save to purchase a car, she knew what to do. She started a GoFundMe to make the young man’s dream’s come to life. As of now, the campaign has raised nearly $30,000! “I never dreamed my post would go viral from our little village community page. I was truly just trying to reach his parent and let our community know what a kind-hearted young man we had working at our local McDonalds,” Reed said in a later interview. “This is amazing and I hope Wyatt realizes how much his kind act now not only impacted my family and I but it has touched hearts of those from all over the world at this point.”
Meanwhile, despite Jones not commenting, his managers have noticed his kindness before. “It’s crew members like ours who make McDonald’s special,” said Eric Godlove, the McDonald’s owner-operator of the location where the good samaritan works. “These last few months have been challenging for many in our community and we’re so proud our employee was able to make this customer’s day just a little brighter.”
