What do you think of when you hear “Margaritaville?” Probably the tropics, right? Well, prepare for that to change. The newest Margaritaville Resort will open right in Times Square, New York City!
Margaritaville Times Square
As you probably know, the coronavirus had quite an impact on the travel industry. So, while Margaritaville Hotels And Resorts had initially planned to open their new Times Square location in the Fall of 2020, they bummed it back to Spring of 2021 last year. Now Parrot Heads, the name for Jimmy Buffett fans, have glimpsed what the hotel will have in store for them. It will “feature an island-inspired casual design and luxurious comfort, instantly transporting guests to the iconic Margaritaville state of mind,” the official resort website states.
“The 234 guestrooms will feature an island-inspired casual design and luxurious comfort, instantly transporting guests to the iconic Margaritaville state of mind,” the official website’s recent announcement continued. Of course, the rooms will come with all the modern amenities, like walk-in rain showers, complimentary wifi, USB outlets, soundproof windows, to name but a few. “Whether you are seeking a quick drink, snack, or a delicious leisurely meal, the new Margaritaville Resort Times Square will have it all,” the company promises.
Believe it or not, the hotel will feature four bars and restaurants, the License to Chill Bar, the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar, the Landshark Bar & Grill, and the Margaritaville Restaurant & Tiki Bar. The 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar takes up the 31st and 32nd floors, boasting incredible views of the city. Meanwhile, the Landshark Bar & Grill “is inspired by the beach joints that once dotted the Atlantic Coast.” Finally, the Margaritaville Restaurant & Tiki Bar brings a “touch of the tropics in the middle of the concrete jungle” for anyone staying at the Margaritaville Resort!
Tropical In Times Square
Some may find Times Square for such a tropical resort. However, John Cohlan, Margaritaville CEO, says it’s not that hard. Especially not with Jimmy Buffett guiding the vision.
“Margaritaville brings fun, relaxation, and a much-needed escape from the every day to any set of coordinates,” said Cohlan, Margaritaville CEO. He added that the resort would both complement and contrast with Times Square perfectly. “The Margaritaville Resort Hotel and the lifestyle experience it offers will be the perfect complement to the exciting, fast-paced energy of Times Square and we can’t wait to bring this destination to the travelers and residents of New York City.”
Will old-school New Yorkers love the idea of a Margaritaville in Times Square? Probably not. However, this could open the area up to a new breed of tourists it does not see very often: the beach-loving, Hawaiian shirt sporting crowd!
