What do you consider “lucky?” Some think it’s getting a week off work, earning that dream job, or winning a prize. But nothing compares to this Colorado man who won the lottery twice in one day!
30-Year Luck
A man with the nickname “Joe B” had quite the lucky day recently. As Colorado Lottery stated, “Joe B” won two $1 million Powerball prizes – on the same day! He finally won last month, after consistently playing on the same numbers for 30 years. “Joe likes to play one play of his own numbers, and a couple more plays with Quick Picks,” Colorado Lottery stated about their winner. “He bought a few Powerball plays in the morning at 7-Eleven on 926 Lake Ave, then stopped and bought a few more plays in the evening at Loaf N’ Jug on 2050 Lake Ave.” Little did Joe know, that little drive down the street earned him quite another payday!
Of course, in the age of coronavirus, its a bit harder to collect lottery winnings. However, also last month, the Colorado Lottery approved a process of handing out winning cheques worth $10,000 or more through the drive-thru claims office! So, when “Joe B” went to collect his precious winnings, he did so in an entirely touch-free and safe way. Afterward, the Lottery officials also posted some pictures of the winner online. “Can you believe what amazing luck!” they wrote in their caption. So, what does Joe plan on doing with his winning? “When the claims staff asked what he and his wife plan to spend the money on, he said, ‘the Boss has plans for it’,” they said.
Other Incredible Winners
Believe it or not, Joe B is actually not the first to win a major lottery in the small town of Pueblo. Just last year, a different, single ticket buyer won a whopping $2 million in the Powerball. Then, the very next day, a Powerball ticket for $1 million was also sold in the nearby city of Colorado Springs. There must be something in the water out there!
However, as incredible as it might seem, these coincidences pop up from time to time. Like the time that two winning Powerball tickets, each worth $100,000, were sold from the same Delaware convenience store, within hours of one another. A similar occurrence happened in Virginia! Eight years ago, a woman, who also elected to remain anonymous, won $2 million in the Powerball the exact same way that “Joe B” did.
Now we must say: these are simply coincidences, or sometimes mistakes, nothing more. At the end of the day, the lottery remains a gamble, and, in all fairness, one of the worst that you can make. However, if you still enjoy the chase of the Powerball, have the money, and want to play, more power to you! Who knows, maybe you’ll even become as lucky as Joe B and win twice in one day!
