Think the fast-food chicken wars would end in 2020? Think again! Chick-fil-A plans to kick 2021 with a brand-new chicken sandwich to continue the fight into 2021. Hopefully, it can prove to be another massive hit for the beloved fast-food giant…
New Grilled Spicy Sandwich
In case you forgot, Popeye’s started the fast-food chicken wars with their incredible chicken sandwich last near. Before long, everyone from KFC to McDonald’s, among many others, released new chicken sandwiches to compete. Now, Chick-fil-A has entered the ring, coming in late to ensure they receive all the publicity. Even better, it’s a sandwich that Chick-fil-A fans have been begging for for years: a spicy version of their grilled chicken sandwich.
For many years, only the breaded chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A had a spicy option. Now, starting on January 25, chicken fans can enjoy the restaurant‘s grilled chicken slathered in a delicious spicy sauce. “We know guests are looking to add more variety to their meals, especially after a year where new food experiences were limited,” Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, said. “The Grilled Spicy Deluxe offers the spicy flavors our guests have come to know and love, now available in a grilled option.”
Unlike other sandwiches at Chick-Fil-A, the new Spicy Grilled Deluxe will feature grilled chicken soaked in spicy seasoning on a toasted multigrain brioche bun with a spicy dressing. To balance the heat, the sandwich also comes with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Given those who have tasted the sandwich early have given it great reviews, Chick-fil-A already thinks it has a massive hit on its hands…
Chick-Fil-A, KFC, Or McDonald’s?
While the new Spicy Grilled Deluxe Sandwich at Chick-fil-A will debut on January 25, no one’s sure how long it will stay on the menu. One thing’s for sure, though: it will go away at some point! The company has made it clear that this is a limited-time offer, likely to compete with the other fast-food companies’ chicken sandwiches. After all, for many years, Chick-fil-A reigned as King of Chicken in fast-food. However, that’s rapidly changed over the past year.
Ever since Popeye’s, KFC, McDonald’s, Jack In The Box, and many other fast-food chains have debuted new chicken sandwiches, sometimes multiple sandwiches, Chick-fil-A has felt increased pressure to boost sales from customers that have switched sandwich preferences. Thankfully, the company has managed to weather the coronavirus storm pretty well. Experts say it’s a combination of excellent customer service, consistent food, and, above all else, brand loyalty. “No major quick-serve has loyalty like Chick-fil-A,” wrote QSR Magazine, the industry’s leading publication.
Will the new Spicy Grilled Deluxe Sandwich at Chick-fil-A boost sales as much as the company wants? Only time will tell, but given the company’s incredible success so far, it’s hard to see the sandwich failing!
