What would you do if you found a wad of money at your job? While many would claim it as their own, a few good samaritans return them to the owner. Thankfully for one customer, this Chick-Fil-A employee from Atlanta turned out to be one of these good samaritans…
$900 Discovery
Chase Withers, seen above, was finishing his closing shift at an Atlanta Chick-Fil-A when something strange happened. As he swept from underneath the tables, he found something peculiar: an envelope. As she swept it towards him, it spilled opened, revealing $900 in 50 dollar bills. “Obviously, I was surprised, $900 is a lot of money,” Withers later commented.
While he could have easily pocketed the money, Withers instead did the right thing. He immediately went to his manager, Jalen Cornell, and turned in the cash. Then, before the Chick-Fil-A staff could even begin to start looking for the woman who has lost the money, she revealed herself. Cornell said just a few minutes after Withers turned in the cash, the woman in question returned to the restaurant, looking for the money. “She was extremely, extremely grateful for it. Almost tears in her eyes. I mean, it was a good moment to be able to give that back to her,” Cornell recalled. As it turns out, the envelope contained the woman’s rent for that month, making Wither’s good deed that much more amazing!
Believe it or not, this was just the beginning of this incredible story…
Sharing The Story
Of course, the woman could not let Wither’s good deeds go unrewarded. She immediately contacted Chick-Fil-A headquarters and the local news, letting them know the good samaritan’s act. As you might expect, the company wasted no time in letting the world know what an incredible employee they had working for them.
“Chase Withers was working hard tonight in our dining room and found an envelope with $900 cash in it,” the company published on their official Facebook page. “He immediately turned in the envelope to his manager and was eager to find the owner. After inspecting the contents of the envelope, the guest placed her receipt inside…The guest was truly grateful for Chase and his honesty. Thank you, Chase, for being a prime example of our store’s mission, ‘Caring people, caring for people.’ We are proud you are a part of our team at Chick-fil-A Lake Dow,” the post finished. The post also included a picture of Wither. As of this writing, the post has thousands of shares and just as many comments, congratulating the young man on doing the right thing.
When speaking to local Fox 5 news, Withers said that doing the wrong thing never even crossed his mind. In the end, he said he would never be able to live with himself if he had done it any differently. Withers finished everything by saying, “I just try to stick to my Christian values and know what’s right and know what’s right and what’s wrong.” Without a doubt, we could use more people like Chase Wither!
