Due to the coronavirus, many around the United States are looking for new or better-paying jobs. If you’re looking or a new job soon, or thinking about what degree to earn, these are five career fields likely to explode in the following years…
Home Health Aide
As you might imagine, jobs in the medical field are exploding right now, but not exactly for the best reasons. However, if you can get past your coronavirus fears, and receive the appropriate degree, you’re on your way. In fact, earning the certification for home and hospice care can be done in less than a year. Tasks for home health aides include helping patients eat, move about the house, dress, and the like. Usually, they are assigned to work with the elderly at an average salary of $12 an hour.
Software Development
Even COVID-19 cannot stop the forward progression of technology. Specifically, software developers’ careers are expected to grow quite a bit in the next five years. A whopping 16%, in fact! Although this job requires a lot of skill and precision, the position won’t go out of style any time soon, so getting a degree is certainly worthwhile! In case you don’t know, developers create software from the ground up, and becoming one can earn you more than $100,000 a year.
Nursing Assistant
Nursing assistants have a similar job to home health aides, at least in as much as they work with the elderly a lot. On one hand, they are officially registered to work with professional doctors and nurses in hospitals and nursing homes. On the other hand, medical assistants are very flexible in their position, as they can both keep track of records and do minor medical tasks. This position is expected to grow at least 14% in the next five years, with a salary of around $28,000 annually.
Operations Research Analyst
The name “operations research analyst” speaks for itself – people in this position research and find information for the company and then analyze it. Coronavirus has not hit operations research analysts particularly hard, as its quite possible to do this job well from home. For around $60,000 per year, operations research analysts need to have a bachelor of science degree in operations research, statistics, or mathematics. However, as this career field will grow up to 13% in five years, it’s certainly worth it!
Billing And Posting Clerk
We talked about a few jobs that require some kind of certification to get, so here’s one for people who are good with organizing – billing and posting clerk. Businesses that still afloat need their clerk for counting important numbers and keeping track of papers. That’s where the billing and posting clerks come in! These positions will grow up to 10% in demand. Business clerks do all kinds of work, including keeping records, billing invoices and purchases, contacting customers to collect their information and so much more. An average person with a high school diploma can become a clerk very easily and get over $30,000 yearly.
It’s never late to get a new certification, especially after the pandemic curve finally falls and all businesses get back to work. Don’t miss out!
