If you love to drive and spend a lot of money on gas, a gas rewards credit cards can help out massively. However, it’s not easy to figure out which gas rewards card to pick! While everyone’s needs are entirely different, there’s no doubt one of these cards will help you save money while filling up.
Bank of America Cash Rewards
If you have at least one account open at Bank of America, this card is one of their best options! With no annual fee, a cardholder earns a 3% cashback on any chosen category, of which gas is an option. The other categories are online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores, and home improvement/furnishings. While other cards provide better bonuses, the option to switch how one earns rewards makes this card a great choice. Also, loyal customers can earn even more bonuses through rotating deals that give bigger cashback bonuses for shopping at particular retailers.
Wells Fargo Propel American Express
While Wells Fargo did not design the Propel American Express card for gas rewards, it can certainly help! It also features some of the best credit card rates around! Its annual fee is $0, and there’s a 0% introductory APR period for new customers as a friendly welcoming. For all purchases, each dollar will earn a user earns three points, where one point equals a cent. With just okay rewards, why would anyone choose the Propel American Express? Well, ease of use and quickness. See, for most credit card rewards, you go online, request the rewards, and the bank deposits the cashback rewards in your account in three to five business days. However, with Propel, you can redeem the points in cash from any Wells Fargo ATM. No need to wait!
Sam’s Club Mastercard
In case you don’t know, Sam’s Club is a membership-only warehouse store, like Costco. A Sam’s Club membership costs $45 a month, and their official Mastercard comes with no annual fee, though you do need to be a member to apply. Fortunately, the possible perks are huge, so it’s worth considering! Most importantly, the Sam’s Club Mastercard gas rewards are incredible at %5 cashback. Card users will also earn 3% back on dining and travel, 2% on Sam’s Club purchases, and 1% on all other purchases, as long as they spend $6,000 a year. The downside? Card owners can only redeem their rewards once a year.
Blue Cash Preferred From American Express
If you have a big family, Blue Cash Preferred is likely the option for you. Not only does it provide great rewards for spending at the pump, but also groceries and traveling. Owners get an excellent 3% back on all gas purchases, along with 6% in U.S. supermarkets and 3% on transit. Just like the Sam’s Club card, these rewards are only available if one spends $6,000 or more a year on the card. While the annual fee of $95 might seem steep, the rewards from a large family can certainly cover it.
Chase Freedom
Always save the best for last! The Chase Freedom card combines some of the best features from the cards above into one. First, like the Bank of America card, users pick which category they would like to earn 5% back on, for up to six months. So, for half the year, you could earn 5% back on gas, while the other half of the year, you would earn a flat rate of 1% cashback on gas. So, with an average 3% rewards on gas, the Chase Freedom seems about as good as the Blue Cash Preferred from American Express. However, unlike the Blue, Chase Freedom has no annual fee!
Don’t forget that choosing a gas rewards credit card is a challenging process. First read all the requirements and details before applying for one. A professional financial advisor or bank representative can always help if you have any problems!
