2020 hasn’t been great for most of us, but Selena Gomez has done pretty well. Earlier this year, she released her new album Rare, her first in five years. Afterward, she picked herself up a little something: Tom Petty’s mansion!
Backstory That Spikes Curiosity
When someone snatched up Petty’s iconic house in Encino last month, no one knew who! Then, just a few days later, Ultimate Classic Rock Magazine discovered than none other than Gomez had purchased it. The 11,483 square-foot home consists of 6 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms along with other luxurious rooms, and features quite the musical history, with Petty personally designing the house for his wife, Jane Benyo.
However, the interesting backstory does not stop there! As it turns out, Petty actually picked the property up for cheap back in the day, because an arson fire burnt down the original Tudor-style mansion on the plot. That’s when Petty and Benyo got their hands on it and created a new cozy place.
One-Of-A-Kind Features
As Gomez regularly needs to deal with paparazzi and lurkers, Petty’s old home is perfect for her! The property features a beautiful long driveway that hides the mansion well, making the home secretive and secure. As Petty enjoyed his privacy as well, there are actually many secret passages throughout the home and multiple panic rooms on the lot.
However, visitors will likely never know about these features! When entering, guests are greeted with a living room that features a floor-to-ceiling fireplace. The room quickly leads to the mansion’s other magnificent rooms, which include a family room, a music studio, a gym with a separate yoga room, and a sunken home theater – just right for a musician!
Long Real Estate Portfolio
When it’s particularly hot outside, the visitors can spend their time out chilling in the big swimming pool, cooking in the outdoor kitchen, or chatting on the loggia. After all, they won’t be seen by the public as some tall trees also guard Gomez’s private home.
This $4.9-million mansion is not the first luxurious place in the pop star’s real estate portfolio. Gomez has two more properties right now: a smaller apartment home in Studio City, Los Angeles, which she bought it in 2017 for $2.2 million, and a second home in Woodland Hills, which cost the pop star $1.7 million. Her parents stay there as of now.
