Ava Phillippe: A New Makeup Muse
Sleighbells ringing can only mean one thing: the holiday season is here. And, as Decembers past, all the biggest makeup companies are releasing new pallets to place under the tree, including Pat McGrath Labs. The newest Pat McGrath product? An incredibly regal collection inspired by both model Ava Phillippe and the Shonda Rhimes’ hit Netflix show Bridgerton.
McGrath recently introduced the set herself in a virtual news conference. There she also unveiled the muse for the collection: 22-year-old Phillippe. How did the “mother of makeup” and the daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe? Social media! “We came together in the DMs of Instagram,” McGrath said.
“I was like …Pat McGrath is DMing me? Huh?,” Ava recalled recently to People Magazine. “I have such admiration for her. And for her to even reach out to me or think of me was flattering.” Of course, while the pallet had to work on Ava, it was mainly inspired by the regal looks of Bridgerton…
Inspiring Pat McGrath Labs
Like most of the rest of the world, both Ava and McGrath binge-watched Bridgerton. “It was a real honor to see the regency era with that modern [diverse] twist. It brought so much joy,” the makeup creator said. McGrath brought the show to life with colors that work for everyone – not an easy task!
“We all knew what we were doing, and we wanted to make it perfect,” McGrath explained in a recent interview. “The team has such a commitment to detail and to creatively making it the best it can be. And problem solving and collaborating and being kind and friendly all in the process, even in the frenzy. Just to be a part of it in general is so special.”
So, what’s in the collection? Well, its quite the makeup selection! It features the Divine Blush + Glow Trio in “Love At First Blush”; and gold and silver shades of the Skin Fetish; MTHRSHP Eye Palette, named “Diamond of the First Water” after the show’s premiere episode; and Sublime Skin Highlighter, which are embossed with the Bridgerton family crest. But, most of all, McGrath loves “Regency Blue” – an ethereal iridescent blue – most of all. She calls it “the darling of the collection.”
