Of course, most know Anthony Hopkins as one of the most iconic actors of all time. However, recently he made headlines for earning a massive profit on the sale of his Malibu mansion! Read on to take a peek inside the home and see how much Hopkins made on it…
Take A Peek Inside
After more than twenty years, Anthony Hopkins has decided to give up his amazing beach house in Malibu, a fancy beach town to the north of Los Angeles. The home is an iconic one: the 4,000-square-foot home sits on a large property on top of a high cliff overlooking the ocean. It’s easy to spot the Cape Cod-style house from the beach, with its bright red roof, seen above.
Inside, the home feels larger than some celebrity mansions with double-digit square footage, thanks to a spacious design. With five bedrooms and five bathrooms, the mansion has plenty of room to entertain Hollywood guests, and there’s plenty to do as well! Like any good celebrity home, there’s a theater and library, two fireplaces, and a large living room for lounging.
Meanwhile, outside, in addition to instant access to the beach, there’s a pool outside for sunny hot days and a sauna to relax in after a long day. Plus, it comes with tall walls and a long driveway, providing the privacy that folks like Hopkins so understandably desire. Now, though, the actor is giving it up for something very different…
Anthony Hopkins: Finally Moving
Taking a look at the home, its hard to understand why the Silence of the Lambs actor decided to give it up. Well, it seems that Hopkins wanted to live closer to downtown Los Angeles, as he has still yet to retire! Unlike other celebrities, Hopkins does not have a tone of mansions. He and wife Stella recently purchased their third home in L.A. proper, a 1940s Colonial for $6 million.
While Hopkins is no celebrity house flipper, he certainly could be if he wanted! He picked up the Malibu house over 20 years ago for a cool $3.8 million. Just last month, though, the actor sold it to an undisclosed buyer for a whopping $10.5 million. That’s nearly three times what he purchased it for – what a great profit! Those are the only houses the Hopkins’ couple has, but that’s plenty for the pair.
For now, it seems that Anthony Hopkins is happy to keep working and wants to be able to get to set quickly. Who can blame him, everyone like a short commute!
